This week Pine class have been focusing on the book ‘Change Starts With Us’ . The book has been really useful in helping the children to understand that even our small actions can make a really big difference in looking after our world. Inspired by the story, the class went green and learned about recycling and the importance of “reduce, reuse, recycle.”
Everyone enjoyed a range of hands-on activities linked to class learning, including an ocean pollution tray where sea animals were rescued and rubbish cleaned up from the beach. They explored
how sorting rubbish helps turn old things into new things and discussed how plastic pollution can harm oceans and sea animals.
The children also took part in a school clear-out, collecting litter from our outdoor areas and then sorting materials into plastic, paper, glass and food waste bins.
