Some of our Year 6 pupils were lucky enough to visit the Emirates Stadium for the Reading Road Map Awards — and it was an unforgettable day! Authors Benjamin Dean and Ramsey Hassan spoke to us about their work. Benjamin shared how writing has taken him around the world, including a favourite trip to Italy. Ramsey showed us how he creates characters through drawing, and we had a Q&A with both authors, learning about their inspirations. The highlight for me was the book signing. I chose The Cheater, and Ramsey didn’t just sign it — he drew me as a comic character inside the book! I was so happy to see myself on the page. The Reading Road Map helped me explore new genres, and in Year 7, I’ll definitely keep trying books I wouldn’t usually pick.
