Last week a group of children in Years 5 and 6 had a wonderful opportunity to take part in a musical glove-making workshop at Gillespie School. It was run by Helen Leigh, an inventor who has worked with musicians such as Ariana Grande and Imogen Heap. The children used sewing and coding of Micro:bits to create a gesture-controlled pair of musical gloves. It was a fantastic experience for the children and they thoroughly enjoyed learning about coding, how it is used by musicians and also meeting Helen Leigh. Mya said ’It was great using Scratch to code music and it was a lot of fun’.
