As a special treat for completing Sats, 28 of the Year 6 children were taken down to the coast for a day of sightseeing and sun.

We were shown around the stunning historic village by Rob (an ex headteacher), Mike and Rowena. The tour took us around various sites, including Whipping Lane – where people were pelted with old vegetables and fruit as punishments in the old days. Luckily, it wasn’t needed today!

We also saw a beautiful windmill on the hilltop next to the village, where we learnt how folk used to make their flour for bread. We heard skylarks nesting in the surrounding grassland, and admired views across the sea.

Finally, we all made our way down to the beautiful beach, where we had lunch, followed by a brief dip in the ice-cold sea.

Good times!
