I am delighted to welcome you to our new school website.
We are a one and a half form entry primary school for ages 2 -11, in the London Borough of Islington, with extended provision from 8.00am to 6.00pm each day.
In 2013 we were named “National Primary School of the Year” in the Pupil Premium Awards, with Nick Clegg commenting:
This (award) is wonderful testament to the excellent work that you and your staff have been doing to boost the attainment of disadvantaged pupils through your use of the Pupil Premium. Among other features, the judges were impressed by your school’s investment of time to examine research evidence to help you design your interventions, and by your well-developed evaluation and monitoring systems.
Our school motto “Excellence for all, excellence from all” reflects our high aspirations and ambitions for children and there is a driving determination to ensure that all pupils and adults in the school reach their full potential. We are not complacent by any means and are continually looking for ways in which we can improve the school further.
Pakeman is a happy and inclusive school of which our children are proud. We want them to have special and happy memories of their time at Pakeman.
“Care, guidance and support are outstanding, so pupils gain confidence, behave sensibly and are enthusiastic learners who have a mature attitude to their work.. ….All staff are keen to go the ‘extra mile’.”
– Ofsted 2011
We expect high standards of behaviour and manners, and children fill a range of leadership roles across the school.
We offer a rich and varied curriculum and, in our last inspection, Ofsted noted that provision for music, art, physical education, and information and communication technology (ICT) are particular strengths.
I am very proud of our academic achievements, facilities and creative, rich curriculum, but most importantly, I am incredibly proud of our children with their positive attitudes towards learning, the way they take responsibility for their own learning and strive to do even better. Visitors always comment on the happy, purposeful environment and the warm welcome they are given by our children and staff. I hope this website gives you a flavour of our exciting and vibrant school.
